Duties
Major duties include, but are not limited to:
Monitor, inspect, and analyze production efficiency and organizational structure.
Gather information and identify development and training needs of EMS employees.
Develop and coordinate training policies, guidance and procedures related to housekeeping, laundry services, recycling, municipal solid waste disposal, regulated medical waste disposal, and environmental management.
Prepare briefings and reports on the status of training issues and policies as the affect the health, safety, and well-being of the medical facility.
Maintains all EMS training records, ensuring all EMS employees are trained and fully comply with the provisions of all safety regulations.
Schedule employee training sessions.
Track changes in product, equipment, and environment in order to develop new curriculum or update established curriculum.
Ensure all EMS employees receive adequate personal protective equipment (PPE) training.
Research and maintain knowledge of statutes, regulations, licensing/permitting requirements, and precedent decisions governing environmental programs and waste management.
Use knowledge of data system development to determine needs, evaluate program effectiveness, and ensure compliance with regulations.
Operate government owned or leased vehicles for training purposes and local business travel during regular tour of duty hours.
In the performance of official duties, the employee has regular access to printed and electronic files containing sensitive information, which must be protected under the provisions of the Privacy Act if 1974, and other applicable law and regulations.
Incumbent is responsible to familiarize impacts of their activities on VA's goal to implement sound stewardship practices for protection of environment and properly dispose of waste generated from their activities.
