34yo male, for decades I've been singing in the car, in church choir, had a few very infrequent lessons.
Always explicitly tried to match tone properly.
I am definitely not tone deaf lol.
I enjoy rock, old country, classical.
Probably most passionate about singing something like pop punk, post grunge, modern/alt rock.
I'm cool with the idea of writing new stuff but I learned primarily by mimicry so I'm not very experienced at reading music, or pulling my own passions out of thin air and putting them to music and words.
So doing covers is going to be by far the easiest for me at first.
Some bands to indicate the style I can perform:
Pop-punk/alt: Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, Royal Blood, Arctic Monkeys, Weezer, Muse, My Chemical Romance, Highly Suspect.
Modern Rock:
Breaking Benjamin, Disturbed, Papa Roach, Chevelle, FFDP, Shinedown, Metallica, A7X, Starset, Godsmack, 3 Days Grace, Creed,
Classic rock:
Van Halen, Eagles, Foreigner, CCR, REO, Elton John, Journey,
Some Christian stuff (when it's not musically crap): Red, Disciple, Casting Crowns, etc
I enjoy, and can sing almost all country before about 2005, only a select few songs and artists that aren't trash beyond about that time.
I'm mostly looking to see what's out there for opportunities to socialize, have fun, and perform.
Get into something new.
And ideally more social than the hobbies I usually engage in.
I'll need some guys with some patience, as I'm used to singing to a track, but I don't think it'll be a problem to learn cues and flow with a band, with some practice.
I have a high degree of confidence and could probably maintain a lively stage presence.
Zero experience working a crowd though.
Maybe I'd be good at it? 🤷
